Description

Importance and role of avionics: The avionic environment. Aircraft Electrical systems: electrical power in aircraft - how it is generated, distributed and used. Aircraft instruments and integrated systems: operating theory and construction of instruments; mechanical, electromechanical and electronic. How information is indicated on instruments: (circular, straight and digital) scales and ranges. Display technology: LED, LCD, CRT, digital, head-up panel lay-outs. Data bus systems: Electrical and optical data bus systems. Inertial sensors and systems. Navigation systems. The aims of the course are to introduce communications and electrical aspects of avionics, including aircraft electrical systems, aircraft instruments and integrated systems, navigation systems.
